Beginning July 8th, vegetative debris generated during the course of the May declared disaster event is scheduled to be picked up. Only vegetative debris is to be placed in the right of way to be picked up by contractors. This applies to residents within Garfield City limits.

Tree Debris Clean Up Volunteer Day

Volunteers for tree clean up needed:
The city has received notification of residents who are in need of assistance with tree debris clean up from the recent storms.
There will be a Volunteer Day this Saturday, June 29th.
Please meet at City Hall at 7:00AM
Gloves and cold water will be provided.
Bring chainsaws if available.

NOTICE-Vegetative Debris Pickup Scheduling

NOTICE

The City of Garfield has entered into a contract with CTC Disaster Response to assist with removal of vegetative debris within the city limits as the result of the May 26th & 27th storms.
Beginning approximately June 17th, CTC will begin removal of low hanging limbs/damaged trees in the right of ways.
Residents who have vegetative debris in need of removal are asked to move the debris to the right of way and it will be picked up by CTC at a date and time to be announced.
CTC contractors are not permitted to enter private property to collect debris.
IMPORTANT: Residents of Garfield needing assistance moving vegetative debris to the right of way can request volunteer help by emailing garfieldtornadohelp@gmail.com and you will be put on the list for pick up. If you do not have access to email, please call City Hall.
The city is scheduling a Volunteer Day for June 29th to assist residents who are unable to move debris to the right of way.
If you would like to volunteer as a group or individual, please call to register with City Hall 479-359-3652 Mon-Fri from 9:00-3:00.

American Red Cross Resource Center for Storm Victims

Today, the American Red Cross Arkansas will open a Multi-Agency Resource Center in Decatur for those impacted by the May storms. Representatives from multiple agencies will answer questions and provide information on disaster assistance. Please bring proof of address.

FEMA Disaster Mobile Unit and Recovery Center

6/10/2024

You can apply for FEMA assistance online, by phone, or in-person. FEMA has opened a Mobile Unit in Decatur and a Disaster Recovery Center at NWACC to help people apply for disaster assistance. Representatives can answer questions about what kind of assistance you may qualify for from FEMA. Individual assistance is to help those who are uninsured or underinsured.

If you purchased or rented a generator or chainsaw because of the recent severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding that occurred May 24 to 27, you may be able to get reimbursed by FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency for those expenses.
