Briefing from the NWS in Tulsa

  • Severe thunderstorms are currently expected to arrive in eastern Oklahoma between 8 PM and midnight tonight, then into NW Arkansas between 11 PM and 2 AM.
    • Timing may change as storms evolve today, and there is some indication that storms in southern Oklahoma may move quicker than the rest of the area. In this case, severe weather may arrive an hour or so earlier than currently forecast. Please monitor the forecast for any timing updates.
  • Large hail up to golf ball size and damaging winds gusts up to 70-80 mph are the primary hazards with severe weather today/ tonight. Some isolated gusts above 80 mph are possible, primarily in southern Oklahoma this evening.
  • A limited tornado threat may evolve this evening, mainly in east-central and southeast Oklahoma. However, damaging straight-line winds remain the primary concern with today’s storms.
  • Another round of severe weather appears probable Saturday evening and overnight.
