The Garfield City Council meets each month at City Hall to conduct legislative business for the City of Garfield. The minutes from each meeting are prepared by the Recorder-Treasurer and reviewed by the Mayor. Finally, the City Council Meeting Minutes are presented to the City Council for approval at the following monthly meeting.
The minutes from the Garfield City Council Meeting of April 9, 2019, as approved by Mayor Gary Blackburn, are posted below.
At the April 9th meeting, the Council received input from Scott Borman, General Manager of the Benton/Washington Regional Public Water Authority, about the impact of Ordinance 180: Use of Streets by Trucks in Garfield, Arkansas, which was recently passed by the City Council. General Manager Borman reported that due to the vehicle weight and trailer size requirements imposed by Ordinance 180, the Public Water Authority’s water storage tank project on Blueberry Lane in Garfield had come to a standstill. He presented options for the City and for the Benton/Washington Regional Public Water Authority to address safety, cost, and feasibility concerns. In conclusion, the City Council voted to repeal Ordinance 180.
